Technically, I wasn’t born in Florida—I was born in Atlanta—but we moved to West Palm Beach when I was four, and my family never looked back. Growing up, West Palm had this quiet, charming vibe. It was small, calm, and felt like a hidden gem. The rush of snowbirds didn’t really pick up until after COVID. Of course, there were plenty of people who’d been coming here for years, but for those of us who actually grew up here, it feels different. It’s home!
Since COVID, it seems like the whole world has moved to Florida, and for us, it’s been incredible. The city is booming. There are new, amazing restaurants, stores, fitness centers, and a younger generation that has brought the town back to life. It’s no longer the sleepy little town some people once described. It wasn’t until I went off to college that I really started to appreciate my hometown. Suddenly, I found myself wanting to come home and visit my parents every month—and honestly, I kind of did. One of the best parts of the town is shopping locally. You become friends with the owners, and walking into a store or restaurant just feels good because you’re genuinely appreciated.
Anyway, the point is, Florida—specifically West Palm Beach and Palm Beach—will always be my slice of heaven. My happy place. Excited to share all my favorites with you guys!
